Happy March

Feeling: Not tired for class for once
Current Love:Royksopp - Happy Up There

Greetings! It's been a month or two since my last entry, I guess mostly due to laziness but also due to the fact that school has been keeping me pretty busy this semester. School has been alright so far. My performance on the first round of exams was surprisingly well, considering my record of doing poorly on first exams. But with good test grades, I haven't been doing optimum in homeworks. I suppose abit too much skipping classes on Friday from being too thirsty on Thursdays... I'm getting better tho, really, but it doesn't help that fluid mechanics is boring.

My new research job via SURF this semester is going well. My work load isn't too heavy, so it's pretty nice making money for not doing much. The apparatus I am currently building will be finished by the end of the week, so I'm excited to see if it will work when I test it this Friday. If it does work, then much good things will ensue.

I guess another big event from the past month was my gig at the Black Sparrow for the first time since summer. It was the day before Valentine's. Apart from some technical difficulties with mHo's Ableton 6, I had a lot of fun with old friends, new friends, and other random folks.

So, apart from all the good thing so far, the bads:
- I still don't know what I am going to do this summer.
- I need to figure out classes for next fall.
- I need to start worrying about grad school/GRE.

Speaking of worrying about the future, my big 21st is creeping up on me. In a way I'm sure if I'm ready yet, but at the same time I want to enjoy its privileges. Since my birthday coincides with spring break, I'm not sure how I will celebrate it yet. Plus, I'm flying out on my birthday to Austin for SXSW(w00t!), so I probably shouldn't go all out the night before.
Or should I...?

Excited! ^____^

New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down

Happy New Years!
2009 has been good to me so far, so let's hope it stays that way for awhile. I just returned from my NY trip 2 nights ago, and it was much fun. Christine accompanied me on the adventures that we set out on a snowy new years eve.
I almost thought that we wouldn't make it for nye because the snow storm was ridiculous. It was probably the first time in my life that I hated snow so much. Luckily the snow calmed down somewhat by late afternoon, and my parents drove us down to New Haven around 5. We hopped on the train and made our ways to the city. We met up with Christine's friend, who is generously letting us stay at his apt. He treated us to dinner at K-town before leaving for his place in Queens.
Unfortunately it took hellova long time to get back to his place, because we had to wait forever for the bus. I was getting pretty antsy, because the show we were going to started at 10, and at the rate of our commuting, I was worried that we won't even make it by midnight.
We ended up arriving at the venue, Europa in Greenwich, around 11:45. And to our luck, there is a line outside. I definitely wasn't too enthused at this point. I already felt bad for missing my friend Brad's set, and now we can't even do the countdown? Just then, Christine tapped me on the shoulder and pointed to the window. It was Brad, and he motioned for us to come to the door. It totally surprised me, but I gladly followed him in. Just in time!
The American Dream Team rung in the new years (a few minutes late, I'm pretty sure...), and 2009 began!

The rest of the night was a fun time dancing and drinking. TADT has a good set, but there was something about their set that I didn't like. Kill the Noise was good, but I was sad that he didn't drop his CSS remix. AC Slater was meh, and I didn't pay much attention to Udachi's set/left around then. Overall, a pretty fun night.
Happy New Years!

Much of new years day involved recovering. When we did finally wake up, we had lunch at a nice Udon place in East Village. After, we headed for SoHo to do some shopping. Sadly a lot of stores I wanted to go to was closed, so it was rather unsatisfying. After, we grabbed dinner in Chinatown at this Shanghai restaurant. The food was cheap and good, and the people were nice. After dinner, we walked around Little Italy for abit before heading back to Queens and resting up.

On Friday, it was a little snowy and windy. We store hopped around 5th avenue. Initially, we wanted to see the Van Gogh exhibit at MOMA, but not surprisingly tickets were sold out.
We finished shopping around 6 and headed back. Christine's friend cooked us a very tasty Korean dinner, but unfortunately it made us run ate again for the show we were going to at Webster Hall. Just my luck.
The show started at 10, but we didn't get there until abit past midnight because the L train was down. And then we waited at least 30 minutes to get in, and another 15 for coat check. Totally lame.
The main room in Webster is pretty neat. The stage had a cool starry light backdrop. At that time, Steve , the drummer of Soulwax was playing. He was the one I wanted to see for the night. Even though he's not a Dewaele brother, he's still Soulwax.

Did I mention I am still in love with Soulwax? I watched their documentary, Part of the Weekend Never Dies, before I left for NY. All I can is, awesome. The editing makes the film very witty and really showcases the members/band, and the music makes you want to go out, get trashed, and dance.

Anyway, Steve's set wasn't too shabby, but I think he got sloppy towards the end. So Me came after his, and he wasn't too good. On at least two instances he dropped a track completely and came in with a new one.
Several times during the night, we also checked out the "hip-hop" and "indie" rooms downstairs. It's funny how the atmosphere is completely different.

Alright, so much for words, time for pictures!

A Snowy welcome

Feeling: Good?
Current Love:The Twelves - When you talk

Greetings from the East! It's been a week since I've made my way home to humble East Hampton, CT. My flight was delayed for an hour and luckily the massive snowstorm in CT had died down by the time arrived. I did have to wait for an hour or so to claim my baggage due to "lack of crew members". It was lame, but I'm just glad to be home. Home looked pretty different but definitely relaxing compared to my small apt on campus.

On Thursday I went to pick up my roommate Christine from the airport. She missed her transfer flight and unfortunately had to wait 3 more hours for the next flight + delays. But other than that, all is well!
grades
We went after Christmas shopping a the "premium outlet" in Clinton. It's the same chain as the one in Michigan City, where I visited for the first time during Black Friday. This outlet tho had better store in my opinion like Barney's and Sak's. I didn't buy much, but I was pretty happy with my loots.

So apart from the relaxing stuff, I was content with my grades for the semester. It's a definite improvement from last semester, but not a 4.0. My B in ME323 probably could have been avoided if I didn't screw up on the first exam. And I thought I was going to do well in the class...ugh.

In other news...3 more days until nyc/nye!

Waaa Finals

My last final is in an hour, but I don't know what to study anymore. I stayed up till 2 last night studying; maybe I should have managed my time better...

Sorry for the lack of posts, but I promise winter break will be exciting!
